Wilthagen Vleeswaren BV grew out of a butcher’s shop in the small place of Krabbendijke in the Province of Zeeland. As a by-product, this butcher’s business, which slaughtered on site, generated a lot of bacon. The bacon was cut, salted and deep-fried (pork scratching) in an all manual process.
From 1975, fellow butchers and supermarkets experienced demand for this product.
These initial clients were supplied until 1984, by which time the butcher’s shop had been sold, and the operation moved to Yerseke.

1984 saw the start of marketing through wholesale and retail channels, which meant rapid growth for our company and resulted in the Yerseke premises becoming too small (outdated).
In 1996, the business relocated to new premises extending over 1,350 m2 in Tholen. At this point we also took the opportunity of mechanising all of our existing processes so that we now have a (BRC, GMP+ and EDI certified) state of the art operation.

In 2004, the premises were further extended to the present 1,600 m2, and Wilthagen Vleeswaren BV also became a recognised supplier to the food industry, thus setting the future trend and assuring the supply of high quality semi-finished products. Since the beginning of 2007, Wilthagen Vleeswaren BV has been operating in a production facility that extends over 2,500 m2.

We focus on cooking, searing, deep-frying and grilling bacon and meat products, that are then ready to consume or to be used in the preparation of meals, pizzas, sauces, salads, cut vegetables and sandwiches.
